Farmer; member of Missouri state house of representatives, 1901-04, 1907-08; U.S. Representative from Missouri, 1919-21, 1925-33, 1935-43 (8th District 1919-21, 1925-33, 2nd District 1935-43); defeated, 1920 (8th District), 1942 (2nd District), 1946 (2nd District); delegate to Democratic National Convention from Missouri, 1928. Baptist. Member, Gamma Sigma Delta; Veterans of Foreign Wars; United Spanish War Veterans; Kiwanis. Died in 1946 (age about 70 years). Interment at Columbia Cemetery, Columbia, Mo.
