  Lloyd Hudson Burke (1916-1988) — also known as Lloyd H. Burke — of Piedmont, Alameda County, Calif. Born in Oakland, Alameda County, Calif., April 1, 1916. Son of James H. Burke and Edna L. (Taylor) Burke. Lawyer; served in the U.S. Army during World War II; U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California, 1953-58; U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of California, 1958-79; took senior status 1979. Member, Native Sons of the Golden West; Phi Delta Phi; Elks; Union League. Died in Oakland, Alameda County, Calif., March 15, 1988 (age 71 years, 349 days). Burial location unknown.

  George Ira Cochran (b. 1863) — also known as George I. Cochran — of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, Calif. Born in Oshawa, Ontario, July 1, 1863. Son of Rev. George Cochran and Catherine Lynch (Davidson) Cochran. Republican. Lawyer; president, Pacific Mutual Life Insurance Co.; delegate to Republican National Convention from California, 1920. Methodist. Member, Union League. Entombed at Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery, Los Angeles, Calif.
  Relatives: Son of Rev. George Cochran and Catherine Lynch (Davidson) Cochran; married, August 6, 1890, to Alice Maude McClung; married, April 3, 1907, to Isabelle May McClung.

  Nathaniel Parrish Conrey (1860-1936) — also known as Nathaniel P. Conrey — of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, Calif. Born in Franklin County, Ind., June 30, 1860. Son of David La Rue Conrey and Hannah (Jameson) Conrey. Republican. Lawyer; member of California state assembly, 1899-1900; superior court judge in California, 1900-09; Judge, California Court of Appeal 2nd District, 1913-35; justice of California state supreme court, 1935-36; died in office 1936. Member, Union League; Freemasons; Knights Templar. Died, of complications from a spinal injury suffered in a fall, in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, Calif., November 2, 1936 (age 76 years, 125 days). Interment at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Hollywood, Los Angeles, Calif.

  Samuel Crawford Denson (1839-1917) — of Sacramento, Sacramento County, Calif.; San Francisco, Calif.; Easton (now part of Burlingame), San Mateo County, Calif. Born in Ursa, Adams County, Ill., September 23, 1839. Son of John Denson (1807-1884) and Emily Ann (Crawford) Denson (1817-1903). Republican. Lawyer; district judge in California 6th District, 1876-81; superior court judge in California, 1881-83; member of Nevada state house of representatives, 1885-86; Ormsby County District Attorney, 1886-88; director and general counsel, Pacific Coast Steel Company. Member, Freemasons; Union League. Died in Easton (now part of Burlingame), San Mateo County, Calif., July 26, 1917 (age 77 years, 306 days). Burial location unknown.
  Relatives: Son of John Denson (1807-1884) and Emily Ann (Crawford) Denson (1817-1903); married 1866 to Mary M. Beatty (sister of William Henry Beatty); married, June 3, 1891, to Laura Mae Ames; fourth cousin once removed of William Henry Denson and Nimrod Davis Denson. See Denson family of Alabama.
  Thomas Brodhead Van Buren (1824-1889) — also known as Thomas B. Van Buren — of New York, New York County, N.Y. Born in Clermont, Columbia County, N.Y., June 20, 1824. Son of Mary (Brodhead) Van Buren and Peter Van Buren (1802-1873). Lawyer; general in the Union Army during the Civil War; member of New York state assembly from New York County 15th District, 1865; U.S. Consul General in Kanagawa, 1874-85. Member, Union League. Died in San Francisco, Calif., October 13, 1889 (age 65 years, 115 days). Burial location unknown.
  Relatives: Grandson of Barent Van Buren; second cousin twice removed of Martin Van Buren; son of Mary (Brodhead) Van Buren and Peter Van Buren (1802-1873); married 1853 to Harriet Carthy Sheffield (died 1901; sister-in-law of William Walter Phelps); father of Harold Sheffield Van Buren. The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 234,420 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of the site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, and members of major federal commissions; and (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions.  
  The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
