Son of George Omer Davis and Katheryne Rose (Leist) Davis. Democrat. Lawyer; Pike County Prosecuting Attorney, 1931-34; member of Ohio state house of representatives, 1935-37; resigned 1937; common pleas court judge in Ohio, 1937-40; U.S. Representative from Ohio 6th District, 1941-43; vice-president, Kroger Company (supermarkets), 1945-60; president and CEO, 1961-70. Protestant. Member, Phi Beta Kappa; Delta Theta Phi; Freemasons; Acacia. Died in Naples, Collier County, Fla., February 28, 2003 (age 97 years, 120 days).
