      Allen Ferdinand Owen (1816-1865) — also known as Allen F. Owen — of Talbotton, Talbot County, Ga. Born in Wilkes County, N.C., October 9, 1816. Whig. Lawyer; member of Georgia state house of representatives, 1843-47; delegate to Whig National Convention from Georgia, 1848; U.S. Representative from Georgia 3rd District, 1849-51; U.S. Consul in Havana, 1851. Died in Upatoi, Muscogee County, Ga., April 7, 1865 (age 48 years, 180 days). Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery.

      Marion Bethune (1816-1895) — of Georgia. Born near Greensboro, Greene County, Ga., April 8, 1816. Republican. Probate judge in Georgia, 1852-68; delegate to Georgia state constitutional convention, 1866; member of Georgia state house of representatives, 1867-71; U.S. Representative from Georgia 3rd District, 1870-71; defeated, 1870, 1872. Died in Talbotton, Talbot County, Ga., February 20, 1895 (age 78 years, 318 days). Interment at Oakhill Cemetery.

    The Political Graveyard

    The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 234,420 politicians, living and dead.
     
      The coverage of the site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, and members of major federal commissions; and (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions.  
      The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
