Born in Hannibal, Marion County, Mo., November 5, 1886. Son of James H. Orr and Louisa E. (Watson) Orr. Democrat. Lawyer; Hancock County Judge, 1919-30; delegate to Democratic National Convention from Illinois, 1924; justice of Illinois state supreme court 4th District, 1930-39; chief justice of Alabama state supreme court, 1933-39; president, Belmont National Bank of Chicago. Methodist. Member, American Bar Association; Phi Delta Phi; Delta Tau Delta; Freemasons; Union League; Kiwanis. Interment at Hamilton Cemetery.

Relatives: Married, September 10, 1914, to Dorothy Wallace.

James Adams (1783-1843) — of Springfield, Sangamon County, Ill. Born in Simsbury, Hartford County, Conn., January 24, 1783. Served in the U.S. Army during the War of 1812; lawyer; one of the first nine men to receive the "Endowment" ordinance from Joseph Smith, founder of the Mormon Church; participated in a long-running newspaper battle with Abraham Lincoln, over the transfer of a city lot; probate judge in Illinois; candidate for Governor of Illinois, 1834. Mormon. Member, Freemasons. Died, of cholera, in Nauvoo, Hancock County, Ill., August 11, 1843 (age 60 years, 199 days). Interment at Old Nauvoo Burial Grounds.

Benjamin Franklin Marsh (1839-1905) — also known as Benjamin F. Marsh — of Warsaw, Hancock County, Ill. Born in Wythe Township, Hancock County, Ill., 1839. Republican. Lawyer; colonel in the Union Army during the Civil War; U.S. Representative from Illinois, 1877-83, 1893-1901, 1903-05 (10th District 1877-83, 11th District 1893-95, 15th District 1895-1901, 14th District 1903-05); died in office 1905; delegate to Republican National Convention from Illinois, 1888. Died June 2, 1905 (age about 65 years). Interment at Oakland Cemetery.
