(Sullivan) Hurley. Democrat. Served in the U.S. Army during World War I; lawyer; delegate to Democratic National Convention from Massachusetts, 1924, 1928; member of Massachusetts state house of representatives Tenth Bristol District, 1925-28; mayor of Fall River, Mass., 1933-34; Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, 1935-37; justice of Massachusetts state supreme court, 1937-56; died in office 1956. Catholic. Irish ancestry. Member, American Legion; American Bar Association; Delta Theta Phi; Knights of Columbus; Elks; Eagles; Moose; Grange.
