Candidate for Nebraska state house of representatives, 1889; U.S. Consul in Kehl, 1898-99; Magdeburg, 1900-02; Cienfuegos, 1902-14; Berne, 1914-15. German ancestry. Burial location unknown.

  Charles Henry Dietrich (1853-1924) — also known as Charles H. Dietrich — of Hastings, Adams County, Neb. Born in Aurora, Kane County, Ill., November 26, 1853. Son of Leonard Dietrich and Wilhelmina Dietrich. Republican. Banker; Governor of Nebraska, 1901; U.S. Senator from Nebraska, 1901-05. German ancestry. Died in Hastings, Adams County, Neb., April 10, 1924 (age 70 years, 136 days). Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Neb.
  Relatives: Son of Leonard Dietrich and Wilhelmina Dietrich; married 1878 to Elizabeth Slaker (1853-1887); married, June 13, 1908, to Margaretta Shaw Stewart (1881-1969).

  Ralph Earl Harrington (b. 1881) — of University Place (now part of Lincoln), Lancaster County, Neb.; Lincoln, Lancaster County, Neb. Born in Delmar, Clinton County, Iowa, February 6, 1881. Business executive; member of Nebraska state house of representatives 33rd District, 1923-26. Methodist. Scotch-Irish and German ancestry.   Eric Hass (1905-1980) — of Oregon; New York. Born in Lincoln, Lancaster County, Neb., 1905. Advertising business; Socialist Labor candidate for U.S. Senator from Oregon, 1936; editor of The Weekly People, 1938-68; Industrial Government candidate for U.S. Senator from New York, 1944; candidate for mayor of New York City, N.Y., 1949 (Industrial Government), 1957 (Socialist Labor), 1961 (Socialist Labor), 1965 (Socialist Labor); candidate for Governor of New York, 1950 (Industrial Government), 1958 (Socialist Labor), 1962 (Socialist Labor); Socialist Labor candidate for President of the United States, 1952, 1956, 1960, 1964; librarian. German and Danish ancestry. Resigned or expelled from the Socialist Labor Party, 1969. Died, from a heart attack, in Community Hospital, Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, Calif., October 2, 1980 (age about 75 years). Burial location unknown.
  George Heimrod (1845-1921) — of Omaha, Douglas County, Neb. Born in Bad Nenndorf, Prussia (now Germany), November 30, 1845. Son of Heinrich Heimrod and Wilhelmina (Leisemann) Heimrod. Member of Nebraska state house of representatives, 1887-89; Douglas County Treasurer, 1896-1900; U.S. Consul General in Apia, 1901-06; Nuku'alofa, 1902-05; U.S. Consul in Apia, 1906-08; Berne, 1908-14. German ancestry. Died December 12, 1921 (age 76 years, 12 days). Burial location unknown.

  Norman A. Otto (b. 1918) — Born in Gering, Scotts Bluff County, Neb., July 5, 1918. Democrat. Served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II; member of Nebraska unicameral legislature, 1955-61; candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Nebraska, 1960; chief of staff to Gov. Frank Morrison, 1961-64, and to Gov. J. James Exon, 1971-79. Lutheran. German ancestry. Still living as of 2003.
  Wayne R. Swanson (b. 1914) — of Lincoln, Lancaster County, Neb. Born in Omaha, Douglas County, Neb., December 31, 1914. Republican. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; excavating business; plumber; member of Nebraska railway commission, 1957-67; Nebraska state treasurer, 1967-75. Baptist. Swedish, German, and Scottish ancestry. Member, Eagles; Odd Fellows; Freemasons; Veterans of Foreign Wars. Still living as of 1975.

  Adolph Eilert Wenke (b. 1898) — also known as Adolph E. Wenke — of Stanton, Stanton County, Neb. Born in Pender, Thurston County, Neb., January 22, 1898. Son of Frederick Wenke and Henrietta (Athen) Wenke. Democrat. Served in the U.S. Army during World War I; lawyer; alternate delegate to Democratic National Convention from Nebraska, 1936; district judge in Nebraska 9th District, 1938-43; appointed 1938; justice of Nebraska state supreme court, 1943-. Congregationalist. German ancestry. Member, American Bar Association; Sigma Phi Epsilon; Phi Delta Phi; Sigma Delta Chi; American Legion; Elks; Freemasons. Burial location unknown.

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 234,420 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of the site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, and members of major federal commissions; and (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions.
