Son of Isaac Appleton (1731-1806) and Mary (Adams) Appleton (1742-1827). Merchant; member of Massachusetts state house of representatives, 1815-16, 1821, 1823-24, 1827; U.S. Representative from Massachusetts 1st District, 1831-33, 1842. Died in Boston, Suffolk County, Mass., July 14, 1861 (age 81 years, 281 days). Interment at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Mass.
  Relatives: Son of Isaac Appleton (1731-1806) and Mary (Adams) Appleton (1742-1827); fourth cousin of John Appleton (1758-1829); married, April 13, 1806, to Maria Theresa Gold (1786-1833); married, January 8, 1839, to Harriet Coffin Sumner (1804-1867); first cousin of James Appleton, William Appleton and Nathan Dane Appleton; fourth cousin once removed of John James Appleton; first cousin once removed of John Appleton (1804-1891) and John Appleton (1815-1864); father of Francis Elizabeth Appleton (1817-1861; who married of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (poet)); first cousin thrice removed of Arthur Taggard Appleton.   Dennison Rogers Burnham (1799-1876) — also known as Dennison R. Burnham — of Plymouth, Grafton County, N.H. Born in Rumney, Grafton County, N.H., January 2, 1799. Merchant; innkeeper; member of New Hampshire state house of representatives, 1856-58; member of New Hampshire Governor's Council, 1860-62. Died in 1876 (age about 77 years). Interment at Trinity Churchyard, Holderness, N.H.
  Austin L. Calef (born c.1871) — of Barrington, Strafford County, N.H. Born in Barrington, Strafford County, N.H., about 1871. Son of Josiah R. Calef and Mary Calef. Democrat. Merchant; member of New Hampshire state senate 21st District, 1935; alternate delegate to Democratic National Convention from New Hampshire, 1936. Interment somewhere in Barrington, N.H.
  Nathaniel Folsom (1726-1790) — of Exeter, Rockingham County, N.H. Born in Exeter, Rockingham County, N.H., September 18, 1726. Merchant; lumber business; Delegate to Continental Congress from New Hampshire, 1774, 1777-80; member of New Hampshire Governor's Council, 1776-77, 1783-84; common pleas court judge in New Hampshire, 1776-90; general in state militia, Revolutionary War; delegate to New Hampshire state constitutional convention, 1783. Died in Exeter, Rockingham County, N.H., May 26, 1790 (age 63 years, 250 days). Interment at Winter Street Cemetery, Exeter, N.H.

  Orrin T. Hayes (b. 1827) — of Georges Mills, Sunapee, Sullivan County, N.H.; Hastings, Dakota County, Minn. Born in New London, Merrimack County, N.H., December 2, 1827. Merchant; postmaster; justice of the peace; lawyer; Dakota County Attorney, 1855; mayor of Hastings, Minn., 1859-60; major in the Union Army during the Civil War; member of Minnesota state house of representatives 7th District, 1863. Burial location unknown.

  Isaiah Kidder (1770-1811) — of New Ipswich, Hillsborough County, N.H. Born in New Ipswich, Hillsborough County, N.H., February 3, 1770. Son of Reuben Kidder (1723-1793) and Susannah Burge Kidder (1736-1824). Merchant; member of New Hampshire state house of representatives, 1810-11. Died April 28, 1811 (age 41 years, 84 days). Burial location unknown.

School teacher; merchant; mayor of Tiskilwa, Ill.; U.S. Representative from Illinois 5th District, 1871-73. Died in Tiskilwa, Bureau County, Ill., November 10, 1885 (age 72 years, 311 days). Interment at Mt. Bloom Cemetery, Tiskilwa, Ill.

  Joseph E. Watson (1860-1937) — of Bronson, Branch County, Mich. Born in Center Sandwich, Sandwich, Carroll County, N.H., July 8, 1860. Republican. Merchant; banker; postmaster; member of Michigan state house of representatives from Branch County, 1919-24; member of Michigan state senate 9th District, 1925-28. English ancestry.   Luther Wright (b. 1799) — of Oswego, Oswego County, N.Y. Born in Nelson, Cheshire County, N.H., September 13, 1799. Merchant; miller; banker; village president of Oswego, New York, 1839, 1841; treasurer of several railroad companies; president of the Oswego Gas Light company. Burial location unknown.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 234,420 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of the site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, and members of major federal commissions; and (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions.
