School teacher; miller; surveyor; Starke County Clerk and Auditor; lawyer; newspaper publisher. Methodist. German ancestry. Member, Freemasons; Knights Templar. Burial location unknown.
  Relatives: Son of Jacob Bender and Jane (Dobbs) Bender; married 1855 to Maggie Bowers (died 1856); married 1858 to Rachel Houghton.
  John Brown (1772-1845) — of Lewistown, Mifflin County, Pa. Born in Mifflin County, Pa., August 12, 1772. Miller; member of Pennsylvania state house of representatives, 1809-13; U.S. Representative from Pennsylvania, 1821-25 (9th District 1821-23, 12th District 1823-25). Died in Buncombe County, N.C., October 12, 1845 (age 73 years, 61 days). Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Asheville, N.C.

  James Ford (1783-1859) — of Lawrenceville, Tioga County, Pa. Born in Perth Amboy, Middlesex County, N.J., May 4, 1783. Member of Pennsylvania state house of representatives, 1824-25; U.S. Representative from Pennsylvania 9th District, 1829-33; sawmill and grist mill owner. Died in Lawrenceville, Tioga County, Pa., August 18, 1859 (age 76 years, 106 days). Interment a private or family graveyard, Steuben County, N.Y.

  U. Frank Higinbotham (b. 1858) — of South Brownsville, Fayette County, Pa. Born in Redstone Township, Fayette County, Pa., November 30, 1858. Farmer; flour mill business; member of Pennsylvania state house of representatives from Fayette County, 1909. Burial location unknown.
  Oliver S. Kelsey (b. 1855) — of South Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pa.; Flemington, Clinton County, Pa. Born in Erie, Erie County, Pa., August 9, 1855. Republican. Railroad clerk; grain mill manager; chair of Clinton County Republican Party, 1898-99, 1927; member of Pennsylvania state house of representatives from Clinton County, 1903-06, 1909. Burial location unknown.
  Eugene Kinney (b. 1871) — of Monroe County, Pa. Born in East Stroudsburg, Monroe County, Pa., July 4, 1871. Miller; member of Pennsylvania state house of representatives from Monroe County, 1909. Burial location unknown.
  John Smith Simonson (1796-1881) — of Charlestown, Clark County, Ind. Born in Fayette County, Pa., June 2, 1796. Served in the U.S. Army during the War of 1812; lawyer; farmer; miller; merchant; member of Indiana state senate, 1826-29; candidate for U.S. Representative from Indiana, 1837; member of Indiana state house of representatives, 1841-46; defeated, 1838; Speaker of the Indiana State House of Representatives, 1845-46; served in the U.S. Army during the Mexican War; general in the Union Army during the Civil War. Member, Freemasons. Died in New Albany, Floyd County, Ind., December 5, 1881 (age 85 years, 186 days). Burial location unknown.
  Mark Thomson (1739-1803) — of New Jersey. Born in Norriton Township, Montgomery County, Pa., 1739. Miller; justice of the peace; member of New Jersey state house of assembly from Sussex County, 1779; member of New Jersey State Council, 1786-88; U.S. Representative from New Jersey at-large, 1795-99. Died in Marksboro, Sussex County (now Warren County), N.J., December 14, 1803 (age about 64 years). Interment at Marksboro Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Blairstown, N.J.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 234,420 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of the site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, and members of major federal commissions; and (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions.  
  The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
