Son of Frederic Moseley Sackett (1840-1913) and Emma Louisa (Paine) Sackett (1842-1922). Republican. Lawyer; president, Louisville Gas Co. and Louisville Lighting Co., 1907-12; president, Pioneer Coal Co. and Black Star Coal Co.;; U.S. Senator from Kentucky, 1925-30; delegate to Republican National Convention from Kentucky, 1928; U.S. Ambassador to Germany, 1930-33. Unitarian. Died in Baltimore, Md., May 18, 1941 (age 72 years, 152 days).
