(Pearson) Davis. Democrat. Lawyer; served in the U.S. Army during World War I; Leon County Prosecuting Attorney, 1919-20; member of Florida state house of representatives, 1921-27; Speaker of the Florida State House of Representatives, 1927; Florida state attorney general, 1927-31; justice of Florida state supreme court, 1931-37; chief justice of Florida state supreme court, 1933-35. Methodist. Member, American Bar Association; Reserve Officers Association; American Legion; Military Order of the World Wars; Sons of Confederate Veterans; Phi Alpha Delta; Freemasons; Knights Templar; Shriners; Odd Fellows; Elks; Lions. Died in Jacksonville, Duval County, Fla., June 20, 1937 (age 43 years, 33 days). Interment at Old City Cemetery, Tallahassee, Fla.   Relatives: Married, February 3, 1921, to Frances M. 	Harry Shuler Dent (1930-2007) — also known as Harry S. Dent — of Columbia, Richland County, S.C. Born in St. Matthews, Calhoun County, S.C., February 21, 1930. Son of Hampton N. Dent and Sallie P. Dent. Republican. Served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict; South Carolina Republican state chair, 1965-68; special counsel and political advisor to President Richard M. Nixon; pleaded guilty in 1974 to a federal campaign finance violation, and sentenced to one month probation. Baptist. Member, Phi Alpha Delta; Pi Kappa Alpha. Died, from complications of Alzheimer's disease, in Columbia, Richland County, S.C., September 28, 2007 (age 77 years, 219 days). 	James Price Stevens (b. 1920) — also known as James P. Stevens — of Loris, Horry County, S.C. Born in Loris, Horry County, S.C., April 4, 1920. Lawyer; member of South Carolina state senate from Horry County, 1956-61. Methodist. Member, Freemasons; Veterans of Foreign Wars; American Legion; Phi Alpha Delta. Still living as of 1961.
