  Dana Reed Bailey (b. 1833) — also known as Dana R.   Willis E. Benedict (1858-1917) — of Custer, Custer County, S.Dak. Born in Wisconsin, July 16, 1858. Son of Hiram F. Benedict and Lydia A. (Thompson) Benedict. Republican. School teacher; lawyer; member of South Dakota state senate 41st District, 1899-1900; member of South Dakota state house of representatives 43rd District, 1901-02. Died in 1917 (age about 58 years). Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton, S.Dak.

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 234,420 politicians, living and dead.
