Named to Oklahoma Hall of Fame. Died in June, 1976 (age 90 years, 0 days). Burial location unknown.

  Elliot Newman Bowman (1826-1900) — also known as Elliot N. Bowman — of Fountain County, Ind. Born in Greene County, Tenn., October 11, 1826. Son of John Bowman and Rebecca (Newman) Bowman. Democrat. Lawyer; merchant; hotel owner; Fountain County Circuit Court Clerk, 1871-78; member of Indiana state house of representatives, 1891; deputy auditor, U.S. Navy, 1893; Sixth Auditor, U.S. Treasury. Died, from a heart attack, in Covington, Fountain County, Ind., May 21, 1900 (age 73 years, 222 days). Interment at Prescott Grove Cemetery, Covington, Ind.

  William Nelson Brown (b. 1848) — also known as William N. Brown — of Concord Township, Iroquois County, Ill.; Woonsocket, Sanborn County, S.Dak. Born in Anderson County, Tenn., June 17, 1848. Son of William Brown (1813-1870) and Malinda Katherine (Overton) Brown (1814-1888). Republican. Served in the Union Army during the Civil War; merchant; member of South Dakota state house of representatives 14th District, 1903-06. Burial location unknown.

Born in Franklin, Williamson County, Tenn., November 7, 1812. Son of Franklin Neighbours and Sarah (McLaughlin) Neighbours. Merchant; lawyer; U.S. Representative from Mississippi 1st District, 1851-53; Presidential Elector for Tennessee, 1860. Member, Freemasons. Died in Holly Springs, Marshall County, Miss., September 6, 1878 (age 65 years, 303 days). Interment at Hillcrest Cemetery, Holly Springs, Miss.

The Political Graveyard

The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 234,420 politicians, living and dead.
 
  The coverage of the site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, and members of major federal commissions; and (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions.  
  The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
