      Relatives: Son-in-law of Robert Morris; brother of John Marshall and Alexander Keith Marshall (1770-1825); first cousin and brother-in-law of Humphrey Marshall; uncle of Edward Colston, Thomas Francis Marshall, Alexander Keith Marshall (1808-1884), Charles Alexander Marshall and Edward Colston Marshall; uncle and first cousin once removed of Thomas Alexander Marshall; grandfather of John Augustine Marshall. Son of Joseph Ball and Florence E. (Hurst) Ball. Republican. Newspaper reporter; U.S. Senator from Minnesota, 1940-42, 1943-49; defeated, 1948; delegate to Republican National Convention from Minnesota, 1944. Protestant. Died of a stroke, in Chevy Chase, Montgomery County, Md., December 18, 1993 (age 88 years, 45 days). Interment at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

      Smith Spangler Turner (1842-1898) — also known as Smith S. Turner — of Front Royal, Warren County, Va. Born in Virginia, 1842. Democrat. U.S. Representative from Virginia 7th District, 1894-97. Died in 1898 (age about 56 years). Interment at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

      Robert Berry Macatee (1891-1974) — also known as Robert B. Macatee — of Front Royal, Warren County, Va. Born in Front Royal, Warren County, Va., July 31, 1891. U.S. Vice Consul in Geneva, 1920-23; U.S. Consul in London, 1923-29, 1932; Bradford, 1929-30; Belgrade, 1938; U.S. Consul General in Jerusalem, 1947. Died November 16, 1974 (age 83 years, 108 days). Interment at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

    The Political Graveyard is a web site about U.S. political history and cemeteries. Founded in 1996, it is the Internet's most comprehensive free source for American political biography, listing 234,420 politicians, living and dead.
     
      The coverage of the site includes (1) the President, Vice President, members of Congress, elected state and territorial officeholders in all fifty states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories; and the chief elected official, typically the mayor, of qualifying municipalities; (2) candidates at election, including primaries, for any of the above; (3) all federal judges and all state appellate judges; (4) certain federal officials, including the federal cabinet, diplomatic chiefs of mission, consuls, U.S. district attorneys, collectors of customs and internal revenue, and members of major federal commissions; and (5) state and national political party officials, including delegates, alternate delegates, and other participants in national party nominating conventions.  
      The listings are incomplete; development of the database is a continually ongoing project.
